Background:
Born in Egorian, the capital of Cheliax, Valignatir is a member of House Jeggare, one of the most powerful and wealthiest noble families in the Inner Sea. Not many families command the vast amounts of wealth that House Jeggare has access to, and it was this luxurious nest that Valignatir was born into. He grew up in Egorian, inside the church of Asmodeus. In Cheliax, everyone at least pays lip service to the Lord of Hell, but the Houses have a particular tendency for Asmodeus worship.
Valignatir started his career in the church as an inquisitor, seeking out secret worshippers of Desna in the capital. He would be sent to hunt them down, and then take them to the dungeons of House Thrune.

After several executions of these worshippers by Queen Abrogail II, he started to have doubts. He decided to take some time off, for a chance to collect his thoughts. He toured the countryside of Cheliax, visiting several iconic sites, including the Arch of Aroden in Corentyn and the Menador Mountains to the north, the so-called “religious homeland of Chelaix”. These two places are the biggest influence to those ideas which he eventually understood Cheliax had drifted away from: lawfulness and caring for its subjects.
This led him to his nation’s divine patron, Asmodeus. In a flash of inspiration, Valignatir saw the answer to his problem: The Prince of Darkness. For the archdevil granted power beyond measure, with a price, of course. Valignatir would use this power to sway nations over to his alliance, and then he would take down House Thrune once and for all. They had become weak, and corrupted, and needed to be cleansed.

After this religious epiphany, Valignatir returned to his family’s home in Egorian. He requested to be indoctrinated into the church of Asmodeus, and started his training within weeks. Evidently, Asmodeus had heard his cries for justice upon House Thrune, for Valignatir quickly surpassed many of the clerics at the church. His power amassed to the point where he was no longer ignored in the politics of Cheliax, and started attending House Thrunes’ parties, usually with several of his family members. This is where he learned the way of aristocracy, as he mingled with his families’ allies inside the Cheliaxian government.

This led to Valignatir further solidifying his hatred of House Thrune, as he saw the corruption first hand. They had devils summoned, sometimes permanently, and were using them casually for servants. The things he saw behind closed doors in Egorian exposed him to the cruelty of Queen Abrogail II first hand, as his high standing in House Jeggare allowed him multiple visits with her.
On these visits, he learned of how she was able to win the civil war for Cheliax so easily: her pet pit fiend. This fiend should present some problems if he ever decides to return home to evict House Thrune from the throne.

After many meetings with the Queen and her advisors, Abrogail assigned him the title of Ambassador, and sent him off on a mission to Taldor, and to set up a network of spies in order to keep eyes on the nation that once held his homeland. This request struck inspiration in Valignatir, as he saw a way to leverage his eventual enthronement in Cheliax: Taldor. He would build up relations with the nobility and royalty there with honeyed words and gifts, and then ask for their support in taking Cheliax. With concessions of lands, of course.

And so he gladly set out to the port city of Cassomir, with his assigned bodyguard, Titus. Titus was a Hellknight that Valignatir met during his visit to the Menador Mountains, and specially requested for this mission. He contacted both the Emperor and the Princess, identifying himself in a letter, written from an inn in Cassomir, offering his services as a Cheliaxian ambassador.
The princess was the first to contact him, and she did so to request a meeting. Having met with several Taldan nobles, Valignatir understood that you don’t exactly say no to Princess Eutropia, so of course he accepted. During this meeting, she informed him that her father, Grand Prince Stavian had received his letter, and had granted Valignatir an audience. And the princess had even more to say. She knew that Taldor needed outside help, and House Jeggare may be just the allies they need. To this end, she went so far as to establish Valignatir’s support should she make a claim on the throne.

Having heard of how lazy and gluttonous he is, Valignatir decided that Stavian is not the ruler thathe, or Taldor, needs. Seeing Princess Eutropia is the “next in line”, even with the laws that prevent her from doing so, he has come to the conclusion that she is the best bet for the next ruler, and accepted her request to throw his support behind her secretly, allowing for her to use his resources if necessary.

After Valignatir and Eutropia met, he traveled to Oparra in order to meet the Emperor. At this meeting, Emperor Stavian discussed the state of their two nations, Taldor and Cheliax. They talked about quite a lot of things that day, many of which Valignatir has sworn not to ever speak to anyone. As Valignatir began to depart, Stavian granted him land to build a long-standing estate on, just south of the port city of Cassomir. Valignatir graciously accepted.

As he left, the first impression of Stavian as an ineffiecient ruler only grew stronger, and Valignatir couldn’t shake this feeling that Taldor would be much improved by the rule of Eutropia.

In the coming days, Valignatir purchased a villa in the capital to stay in until his estate was complete.
Valignatir has recently moved most of his belongings to his estate, which he now consider his home in Taldor.

He has settled down in this dissolving nation, and is ready to get down to work. It’s time to bring law to this lawless nation, and Valignatir is the perfect agent to do so, or so he thinks.

Personality:
Valignatir is the exemplar servant of law, a person who puts the law above almost anything else. This can sometimes be a problem, however, as he has a tendency to let his lawful tendencies get in the way of his normal human emotions, which sometimes clouds his judgements.

Beyond this, however, he is very efficient at getting what he wants or needs. He is very upfront about his desires, unless those desires need to be kept secret.

He tends to see most of life through the idea that there aren’t any black or whites, but varying shades of gray. And he is fully prepared to be the darker side of that scale, as long as his goals are realized.

He is very nationalistic, not accepting of any threats or insults to his homeland, defending it to the point of fighting if need be. As far as letting this pride in Cheliax get in the way of his life, it does happen, and he knows that subconsciously. It cannot be helped.

Appearance:
Valignatir, as a true Cheliaxian, is a pale human male, with a slim but built figure. His long hair has turned slightly white, and reaches down to his shoulders.
He always appears very well-dressed; whether that is either true fancy clothes or his glamered breastplate is not always obvious.
